About Jay Myers
Growing with the times throughout my life as allowed me to never grow old and stale. That’s the benefit of having an open mind. My goal was to enjoy life even in its simplest forms as well as art.
Jay Myers, with his early life experiences on Vancouver Island, has brought to us a unique view of the world and his world through his eyes. His influences in art range from reflecting society from the 50’s to present, to the classics like Picasso. Many people like to know him as the local Picasso.
Being an expressive person, Jay also paints in the same manner. He challenges the viewer in his paintings, his work affects each of us in different ways. Some of his work is autobiographical picturing the types of places he’s lived in and his experiences.
Myer’s artwork, and the techniques used in his artwork, have been said to be simple, naive, energetic, inspirational, energizing, but still, very complex. A person has to be either an art lover, artisticcally minded and patient to notice all the little details in some of this work.
He has been showing his work in various places on Vancouver Island for over 20 years. His work on the internet has hit the international market and draws collectors from the United States , Italy, South America, Britain, Germany and of course Canada.
